Lab: The Percent Grid
Shade a 10×10 grid and watch the percent, decimal, and fraction update together — conversions you can see.
Percent grid explorer
37% = 0.37 = 37/100
Try it
Challenge: shade exactly 3/8 of the grid as a percent.
Move the slider, then type the percent (just the number).
What to notice: each column is 10%, each square is 1%. The fraction, decimal, and percent are three names for the same shaded amount.
Why it works
A 10×10 grid has 100 equal squares — a perfect model of “per hundred.” Shading 37 squares is 37%, and counting them as a fraction of the whole grid gives 37/100 = 0.37 automatically.
