Stuck on perimeter & area? Get tutor help.
Tell us exactly where your work goes off track — picking the formula, the height, the ½, or composite figures — and a tutor will walk you through the first step.
1 Quick recap
The whole skill on one card. If any line feels shaky, say so in the form below.
Perimeter & Area of Polygons
- Perimeter = around the shape (plain units). Area = inside the shape (square units).
- Rectangle: A = l × w; P = 2l + 2w.
- Triangle: A = ½ × b × h — never forget the half.
- Parallelogram: A = b × h, where h is perpendicular to the base. The slant side is a decoy.
- Trapezoid: A = ½ × (b₁ + b₂) × h — average the bases first.
- Composite figures: split into familiar shapes, compute each area, then add.
- Working backwards: divide the area by the known dimension to find the missing side.

What happens next
- 1A tutor reviews your question and the work you’ve already tried.
- 2You get a reply by email that walks you through the first step — not just the answer — so you can finish the problem yourself.
- 3Response time is an estimate: usually within 1–2 days. It may take longer during busy periods.
