Derivative Rules Calculator
The three rules that differentiate almost everything: the product rule for multiplied chunks, the quotient rule for fractions, and the chain rule for functions inside functions. Master these and every derivative becomes bookkeeping.
1 Derivative stepper
Pick a form, enter the numbers, and watch each rule unfold step by step. Every step shows the algebra — no black boxes.

2 Which rule, when?
- Two things multiplied → product rule: (fg)′ = f′g + fg′.
- One thing divided by another → quotient rule: low d-high minus high d-low, over low squared.
- A function inside another function → chain rule: outer′ × inner′.
- Both at once (e.g. (3x+1)2(x−2)) → product rule outside, chain rule inside.
