Who we are

FiboTutors (“FiboTutors,” “we,” “us”) is a free K-12 math learning website at https://fibotutors.com, created and operated by Selena Bui, a college mathematics instructor in California, United States. This policy explains, in plain language, what information we collect, what we never collect, and the choices you have. To contact us about privacy, use the Contact page.

Children’s privacy

FiboTutors is a free educational resource that children use. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. There are no accounts on this site, no sign-ups for children, and we never ask child users for names, birthdates, email addresses, or file uploads. We never sell data. If you are a parent and believe your child has provided us personal information, contact us through the Contact page and we will delete it promptly.

Information you provide to us

  • Contact form. If you message us through the Contact page, we receive your name, email address, and the content of your message so we can reply.
  • Email updates (parents and educators only). Our newsletter is for parents and educators — not for children under 13. When subscriptions open, we will collect only your email address, stored with our email provider (see vendors below). Every subscription requires you to confirm by email (double opt-in), and every email includes an unsubscribe link. If a child’s email address is ever submitted, it is deleted unused.
  • What we never ask for. The games, tools, worksheets, and practice pages do not collect names, email addresses, birthdates, or any other personal information from children. Practice progress a child makes is stored only in that browser on that device — it is never sent to our servers.

Information collected automatically

Our servers record basic technical logs (such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited) for security and reliability. These logs are kept for 30 days and then deleted. We use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google, to understand aggregate site usage. Google Analytics 4 sets cookies and collects usage data such as pages visited, approximate location, device and browser type, and interactions with the site. This data is processed by Google in accordance with Google’s privacy policy. You can opt out by adjusting your browser settings or by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. We also use a cookie-free, aggregate-only analytics tool (Umami) that counts page visits without cookies and without identifying any visitor.

Cookies

This site sets strictly necessary first-party cookies (for example, keeping the site owner signed in to manage the site, and basic site preferences) and analytics cookies from Google Analytics 4, which are used to understand aggregate site usage as described above. We do not use advertising cookies or social-media cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings, including by using the Google Analytics opt-out described above.

Third-party vendors

  • Hostinger (web hosting). Hosts the website and stores server logs. Purpose: keeping the site online, fast, and secure.
  • Hostinger Reach (email provider). Powers the newsletter signup. Purpose: sending only the emails you request. Receives only subscriber email addresses (parents and educators). Its script on our pages only handles the signup form.
  • Umami (analytics, cookie-free). Counts aggregate page visits. Purpose: understanding which resources are most helpful. Sets no cookies and identifies no one.
  • Google Analytics 4 (analytics). Provided by Google to understand aggregate site usage. Sets cookies and collects usage data such as pages visited, approximate location, device and browser type, and interactions with the site; data is processed by Google in accordance with Google’s privacy policy.
  • Skimlinks (affiliate links). Rewrites some outbound links as affiliate links. Purpose: site revenue. We are in the process of removing this script from child-facing pages as part of our child-privacy posture.

Data retention

  • Server logs: 30 days, then deleted.
  • Contact messages: kept only as long as needed to respond, then deleted.
  • Newsletter addresses: kept until you unsubscribe; unsubscribed addresses are kept on a suppression list solely to honor opt-outs.
  • Children’s data: we collect none, so there is nothing to retain.

Your rights

California residents may request to know, delete, or correct personal information we hold about them, and to opt out of any “sharing” of personal information (we do not sell or share personal information). Make a request through the Contact page.

Our privacy promise

FiboTutors collects no personal information from children. Your child’s practice progress is stored only in this browser on this device — never sent to our servers, never sold, never used for advertising. Our analytics include Google Analytics 4, which uses cookies as described above, as well as aggregate page-visit counts. If you subscribe to our newsletter (parents and teachers only), we store only your email address with our email provider.
