Inference Lab
Build and interpret confidence intervals, set up hypotheses, compute test statistics and p-values, and conclude without overclaiming.
1 Capture-rate lab
True μ = 100 (orange line). Each run builds 100 intervals from fresh samples: green captured μ, red missed. About 95% should capture.
Captured: –
Rate: –
2 What to notice
- With 95% selected, the capture count hovers near 95 — rarely exactly, because each run is random.
- Drop n to 10: intervals widen (bigger SE) but the capture rate stays near 95%.
- Switch to 99%: intervals widen further and captures rise toward 99. Confidence costs width.
