Skill: area-perimeter

Stuck on perimeter & area? Get tutor help.

Tell us exactly where your work goes off track — picking the formula, the height, the ½, or composite figures — and a tutor will walk you through the first step.

1 Quick recap

The whole skill on one card. If any line feels shaky, say so in the form below.

Perimeter & Area of Polygons

  • Perimeter = around the shape (plain units). Area = inside the shape (square units).
  • Rectangle: A = l × w; P = 2l + 2w.
  • Triangle: A = ½ × b × h — never forget the half.
  • Parallelogram: A = b × h, where h is perpendicular to the base. The slant side is a decoy.
  • Trapezoid: A = ½ × (b₁ + b₂) × h — average the bases first.
  • Composite figures: split into familiar shapes, compute each area, then add.
  • Working backwards: divide the area by the known dimension to find the missing side.

2 Ask for help

The more specific you are about the step where you get lost, the more useful the reply.

Demo form — nothing is sent. This is a design preview with no backend connected. Submitting shows you what your request would look like, but it does not send your message anywhere.
Include the actual problem and the exact step where you get lost.
Show your work so far — even a wrong attempt helps the tutor see where things went off track.
No file upload in this demo — just describe your work in words if it helps.

What happens next

  1. 1A tutor reviews your question and the work you’ve already tried.
  2. 2You get a reply by email that walks you through the first step — not just the answer — so you can finish the problem yourself.
  3. 3Response time is an estimate: usually within 1–2 days. It may take longer during busy periods.
