Skill: slope-from-two-points
Slope Calculator
Enter two points — or a rise and a run — and get the exact slope with every subtraction step shown.
Exact fractions, no rounding, and the zero/undefined edge cases handled honestly.
1 Calculator
Pick a starting point, type the numbers, and the tool computes the slope exactly — rise, run,
simplified fraction, and what the sign means.
2 How the tool works
All arithmetic is exact: the tool subtracts, forms the fraction, and simplifies. Type whole numbers
in the coordinate fields.
Reading the results
Rise is y2 − y1; run is x2 − x1.
The slope is rise/run, simplified. A positive slope climbs, a negative slope falls, 0 is flat,
and undefined means the line is vertical.
Zero vs. undefined
If the run is 0, the tool says undefined — there is no number for the slope of a vertical line.
If the rise is 0, the slope is 0. The zero’s address decides.
