③ Why it works
A t-table’s columns are confidence levels (or tail areas) and its rows are degrees of freedom — the entry t* is the cutoff capturing the middle C% of that t curve. Small df = heavy tails = larger t*; as df → ∞ the row converges to the z row (1.645, 1.96, 2.576). This tool computes exact t* values and prints the whole table below.
