Quadratic Equations Practice
Solve by factoring, square roots, completing the square, and the formula — and predict with the discriminant. Fresh equations every round.
1 Practice
Type your answer and press Check answer (or Enter). A wrong answer earns a hint first; a second miss earns another hint; a third miss walks you through the full solution.
2 What you’ll practice
Every problem is generated fresh from templates across several question types — a problem never repeats until its whole pool is used up.
Factor to solve
Split and use zero product.
Square roots
x² = k gives ±√k.
Complete the square
Add (b/2)² both sides.
Quadratic formula
Always works; watch −b.
Discriminant
D = b²−4ac predicts.
Check a solution
Does it satisfy the equation?
3 Watch out for these
The three mistakes students make most often on these problems.
x² = 9 has TWO solutions: 3 and −3.
For x²−5x+6=0 the formula starts (5 ± …)/2, not (−5 ± …)/2.
Move everything to one side first — zero product needs = 0.
