How to enter answers
- Enter just the value:
4,-5. (x=4also works.) - For yes/no questions, type
yesorno. - Fractions are not needed — every solution here is an integer.
2 Problem types
The generator mixes these types at random.
One step: x + b = c
Subtract b from both sides.
x + 5 = 12
One step: x − b = c
Add b to both sides.
x − 7 = 3
One step: ax = c
Divide by a.
−4x = 20
One step: x ÷ a = c
Multiply by a.
x/5 = 4
Two steps: ax + b = c
Reverse order: −b, then ÷a.
2x + 3 = 11
Two steps, more forms
ax − b, x/a + b.
3x − 4 = 11
Tricky one-steps
a − x = c, −x + b = c.
9 − x = 4
Check the solution
Substitute and verify.
Is x = 6 right?
