Which fraction is bigger? Use same denominators, same numerators, LCDs, and benchmarks to decide fast.
How to enter answers

7/8. - Simplest form is not required for comparisons — just the right sign.

Closest to 0, 1/2, or 1?
Example: closest to 1 among 2/9, 7/8, 4/7 → 7/8
Same denominator
Same pieces, count them.
Example: 5/8 __ 3/8 → >
Same numerator
Smaller denominator wins.
Example: 3/4 __ 3/8 → >
Unlike fractions
Rename with the LCD.
Example: 2/3 __ 3/5 → >
Greatest of three
Compare two at a time.
Example: greatest of 1/2, 2/3, 5/8 → 2/3
Against one-half
Above or below the halfway mark?
Example: 5/9 __ 1/2 → >
Common slip-ups
Bigger bottom = bigger fraction
1/8 > 1/4 is wrong: a bigger denominator cuts smaller pieces. Same numerator → smaller denominator wins.
Comparing tops only
With different denominators, tops alone lie. Rename with the LCD first.
Cross-product mix-up
Label each cross product with its fraction — the product beside the first numerator belongs to the first fraction.
