Linear Inequalities Practice
An endless supply of never-repeating inequality problems with instant feedback. Solve them like equations — but ask at every step: do I need to flip the sign?
1 Practice
Type your answer and press Check answer (or Enter). A wrong answer earns a hint first; a second miss earns a second hint; a third miss walks you through the full solution.
How to enter answers
- Your answer: an inequality like
x > 5,x <= -2, or a compound like-4 < x <= 5. Equivalent forms count:2x + 4 > 10and5 < xare both accepted forx > 5. - Symbols: you may type
<=and>=, or paste ≤ ≥.
2 What you’ll practice
Every problem is generated fresh from 12 templates across the skill — a problem never repeats until its whole pool is used up.
One-step & two-step
ax + b ⋚ c solved like an equation. Only ×/÷ by a negative flips.
The sign flip
Dividing or multiplying by a negative reverses the inequality. Make it a reflex.
Compound & graphs
Three-part inequalities and reading shaded number lines.
3 Watch out for these
The three mistakes students make most often here.
Wrong: −2x > 14 → x > −7 Right: x < −7. Dividing by −2 flips > to <.
Wrong: graphing x ≥ 7 with an open circle. Right: closed dot — “or equal to” includes the endpoint.
Wrong: solving the two halves of −1 < x + 3 ≤ 8 separately. Right: one operation on all three parts: −4 < x ≤ 5.
